Champions League Results: Napoli Out, Atlético & Real Stumble

SSC Napoli footballers with Slovak midfielder Stanislav Lobotka did not advance to the next stage Champions League. They lost with Chelsea 2:3 and thus occupied the 30th place in the table.

The Norwegian Bodö/Glimt made a big surprise, winning 2:1 at Atletico Madrid. Both teams advanced to the play-off for the round of 16, Slovak defender Dávid Hancko assisted on the home team’s only goal.

Slavia Praha was not even enough for a rookie, they lost 1:4 on the turf of Pafos, Cyprus, Slovakian Erik Prekop started for the visitors.

Napoli had a busy schedule in January and struggled with many absences. Despite this, he was able to turn the game around to 2:1 against Chelsea, but in the end he did not take a point and missed the playoffs by a point. The Londoners, on the other hand, secured a direct place, occupying sixth place.

Hanck’s great cross ended with a goal

Atletico took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to Alexander Sörloth, who was assisted by Hancko.

However, Glimt surprised the favorite twice, with striker Kasper Högh scoring the winning goal in a scrum.

His team is experiencing the premiere in the Champions League, which he turned into promotion. One of the seeded teams awaits him in the playoffs.

At the base of Slavia, Erik Prekop, who went down in the 55th minute, started from among the Slovaks.

His more experienced compatriot Ivan Schranz was on the bench as Slavia went winless this season in the Champions League, picking up three points from draws.

Arsenal confirmed their 100% performance and defeated Kajrat Almaty 3:2. Barcelona averted a surprise and turned the duel with Copenhagen around, triumphing with a difference of class 4:1 and going directly to the round of 16.

Real leaves Lisbon disappointed

On the other hand, Real Madrid hesitated when they lost 2:4 at Benfica Lisbon and did not advance directly to the round of 16 – the eighth place, which Manchester City grabbed for a 2:0 win over Galatasaray (2:0), missed out on a point.

Benfica salvaged their future in the competition in extra time and took the final promotion spot (24th) by a score ahead of Olympique Marseille.

“White Ballet” conceded the last goal with nine players, as both defender Raul Asencio and forward Rodrygo saw a second yellow card in added time.

The reigning champion in Paris was once again troubled by Newcastle, with whom he drew 1:1 and was not enough to beat the English opponent even on the third attempt.

The situation was made more difficult by the injury of the home striker Chviča Kvaracchelija, who limped off the field with problems with his right leg after an intervention by Anthony Elanga in the middle of the first half.
