La Gloria fell 93-69 against Olympic de La Banda at the Ángel Sandrín stadium on matchday 22 of the National League.
The match started evenly, with Gloria imposing conditions in the paint starting with Saiz and reaching eight points (18-10). However, the visit reacted with a 6-0 run and closed the first quarter down by the bare minimum (16-18), in a stretch of distributed scoring.
In the second period, Olympic capitalized on Albirrojo’s inaccuracies and managed to turn the score around. With a good job from Gonzalo Bressan and a more fluid attack, the team from Bandeño took the lead 33-23 midway through the quarter. From there, the development took a definitive turn: triples from Montero, Ascanio and Mijares widened the difference and left Instituto without answers, which went into halftime down 30-57.
After the long break, those led by Sebastián González tried to react with intensity and drive, but Olympic maintained solidity in its game plan and continued to find offensive variants to maintain the advantage throughout the entire complement.
In this way, Martín Villagrán’s team sealed a clear 93-69 victory as a visitor. Gonzalo Bressan was the most outstanding player of the night, with a PIR of 28.
Now, Glory will focus its preparation on the second window of the Basketball Champions League Americas, which will be played this Thursday and Friday in Franca, Brazil.
