August Priske won last winter’s Forward of the Year at the Allsvenskan’s Stora Pris for his successful season with Djurgården, where he shared the shooting league title after 18 goals for the Stockholm club.
The 195cm tall and fast Dane has been a very hot name for European clubs and this summer Expressen revealed that RB Salzburg from Austria wanted to buy the striker.
When the January window opened its doors, it was set for a sale – and now the 21-year-old looks to be lost to the Stockholm club.
Reveals – near a business
Expressen can reveal on Thursday that big-investing Championship club Birmingham City is leading the hunt for Djurgården’s top scorer August Priske.
The clubs are in negotiations about a transfer and according to information to Expressen, an agreement should be close. Birmingham should be in the driver’s seat right now ahead of clubs like Besiktas and Lille.

Several sources that Expressen has been in contact with state that Priske will largely agree on his personal terms with Birmingham.
Birmingham City is a classic club in England.
Since 2023, Birmingham City is owned by American financier Tom Wagner, through his company Knighthead Capital Management. In November 2025, the takeover was completed, which means that his company owns 96 percent of the club. Major player investment was made last season, securing the club’s promotion to the Championship.
Now the sights are set on the Premier League with a newly built arena that will be ready in 2030. NFL icon Tom Brady is also a minority owner in the club.
August Priske was picked up from FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2024 – and success was not long in coming. The 21-year-old Dane has exploded in Djurgården, scoring goals and quickly becoming a crowd favorite.
With his speed and his sharp target game, Priske has grown into a big favorite at 3 Arena, where he has been nicknamed “Jesus Priskus” by the supporters.
