Benfica announced on Wednesday night the filing of a complaint against Futebol Clube do Porto with the Portuguese Football Federation. The red club denounces what it considers to have been “shameful treatment” reserved for its fans.
In a statement published on its portal, Benfica states that their fans “were forced to take off their shoes on a wet floor, in a procedure that is not foreseen in any regulation and whose sole purpose was to humiliate the Benfica fans”.The club also states that there were several elderly people there.
“As a result of these deliberate delays, many fans were only able to access their seats with the second half underway“, reads in the same use.
“This is absolutely unacceptable behavior on the part of those responsible for security at Futebol Clube do Porto, who, unfortunately, it has become a repeated practice whenever Sport Lisboa e Benfica plays games at this stadium“, concludes the Lisbon emblem.
A goal scored by defender Jan Bednarek earned the Porto team a 1-0 victory against Benfica. The Dragons thus sealed their ticket to the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup, alongside Torreense and Fafe.
