Benfica completed their trip to Espinho with authority and beat the local Académica 3-0, in the 16th round of the national volleyball championship played this Saturday. The Reds, second in the League, dispelled any doubts in a game that, from the start, was expected to be demanding against the fifth placed team in the competition.
The Eagles were determined to resolve the match early and soon took control of the first set, imposing a high pace and greater efficiency in service and attack. Académica de Espinho still tried to balance things out, but Benfica closed the match 25-19, confirming their initial superiority.
In the second set, the home team appeared more competitive and discussed the result until near the end, taking advantage of some mistakes from the red team. Still, in the decisive moments, Benfica’s greater experience made the difference, allowing the eagles to close the set 25-21.
The third half maintained the record of the previous ones, with balance for a good part of the set, but with Benfica always more consistent and managing the key moments of the game better. The Lisbon team was once again more effective in the decisive points and sealed the triumph with a 25-20, guaranteeing a safe victory in three sets.
