Barcelona F1: Mercedes Pace & McLaren Upgrades

Wednesday is going reasonably well in Barcelona so far. Many teams made an appearance in the morning, with Nico Hülkenberg and Oliver Bearman providing brief interruptions. After the technical problems, Audi no longer appeared on the circuit and is currently stuck with five laps respectively. Haas did come out again just before the lunch break.

There was a lot of attention for McLaren, which entered the circuit for the first time. Lando Norris took the wheel for system checks and seemed to complete the planned program without any problems. McLaren, the defending champion in Formula 1, will be in action for the last three days and consciously chose that planning. This way the car could be developed in the factory for longer.

In terms of reliability, Mercedes is once again very impressive. George Russell had already completed 92 laps by 1:00 PM, the most of anyone. The Silver Arrows seem to be well on their way to breaking the 100-lap barrier again, just like on Monday, and collecting a lot of data. There are no problems at Mercedes for the time being.

The fastest time during the morning seemed to be achieved by Franco Colapinto and Alpine. The Argentinian recorded a 1:19.150 and also completed many laps, but Russell eventually got under with a 1:17.5. That is the fastest time so far in Barcelona.

Red Bull skips the test day after Isack Hadjar’s crash, while Ferrari and Cadillac have not yet appeared on the track. It was already known that Aston Martin and Williams would not be there on Wednesday.
