BERGEN OP ZOOM – The third team of Badminton Bergen op Zoom is performing in the sixth division this season and is doing so with verve. In week 4, the Bergen team won against the local home teams in both Hulst and Middelburg.

On Wednesday evening, Dominic, Ramon, Sintija and Marleen traveled to Den Dullaert to only lose two points. The men’s doubles of Dominic and Ramon were lost and the latter surrendered his singles match after a long battle (21-15, 10-21, 21-19). Both men more than made up for that in their mixed doubles matches: 2-6 wins.

On Sunday morning the team played with the same composition against Sinar ’75 in Middelburg. This time it was only Dominic who had to bow to the Zeeland resistance. That does not mean an easy race morning. Sintija and Marleen had to go all the way (19-21, 21-15, 25-27) and Marleen’s singles and Dominic and Sintija’s mixed doubles also required a final game. However, an excellent 1-7 victory was returned to the Brabantse Wal in the badminton bag.

Busy Saturday in Oosterhout

The brand new sports hall of Oosterhout was the sports venue for no fewer than three BadmintonBoZ teams on Saturday evening. Team 1 had to make do without Timo and the points difference against Oosterhout 2 ended at 5-3. Team 4 unfortunately had to give up three games against Oosterhout 6, but still managed to score a good draw.

The men’s team also played in Kraaidonk and was gratefully able to call on Wout and Jack in the match against Oosterhout M2. The very young player and the very experienced player brought their A-game. It took no fewer than five three-gamers, but the evening ended with a wonderful 2-6 victory.

Collection in Capelle and Steenbergen

Team 5 competed against Schollevaar 9 on Sunday morning in Capelle aan den IJssel and called on Gerardo from BadmintonBoZ-M1. The South Holland opponents gave plenty of resistance, but Melli and Monique in their women’s doubles and Melli in her singles won very convincingly. Final score: 6-2.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday evening, BadmintonBoZ-6 played an away match against Steenbergen 2. Although the final score remained at a 7-1 loss, there was plenty to be proud of. For example, Jineeth and Rowdy were just a hair away from a stunt in their men’s doubles (21-13, 19-21, 22-20) and Jineeth in his singles (21-11, 22-20). Highlight in ‘t Cromwiel: Rowdy winning his men’s singles with 21-17, 9-21 and 15-21. Cheers!
