After a 24-year break, the Austrian Badminton National Championships are returning to Carinthia: from January 30th to February 1st, 2026, they will be held in the ball game hall in the St. Ruprecht district of Klagenfurt.
Another special occasion coincides with the return of the state championships to Carinthia: The Carinthian Badminton Association (KBV) will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026. “The Carinthian Badminton Association was founded in Villach on July 8, 1956. At that time, 15 clubs were represented – originally 26 clubs had registered to take part,” emphasizes the sporting director and long-time coach Klaus Pierl.
State championships in Klagenfurt
This is precisely why the major sporting event is seen not only as a championship, but also as an opportunity for new impetus – for the sport itself, for young talent and for the visibility of badminton in Carinthia. The organizing team warmly invites the entire badminton family and all sports enthusiasts to experience this anniversary and the championships in Klagenfurt. Exciting duels at the highest level, fair competitions and a worthy celebration for the 70th anniversary are expected – with free entry, a buffet and shows.
