Lekkerkerk – Badminton club Lekkerkerk started the new year with clinics at the Koningin Wilhelminaschool. The association wants to raise awareness of badminton sport in general and BC Lekkerkerk in particular.
Four supervisors visited the school with rackets, shuttles and other equipment. All children from groups 3 to 8 received a badminton lesson during gym class. For many children it was their first introduction to the sport.
Shuttle tag as a warm-up
The lesson started with a warm-up: shuttle tag. The children then practiced with different strokes and concluded with an endgame.
The supervisors were enthusiastic about the responses. Every child made progress and the students encouraged each other to keep getting better.
More schools planned
BC Lekkerkerk also plans visits to other schools in the Krimpenerwaard, together with ‘sister associations’ in Krimpen aan de Lek and Ouderkerk. The plan is to repeat this annually.
Children can try out the sport during BC Lekkerkerk training sessions: Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM or Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the De Bakwetering sports hall in Lekkerkerk. Children from other schools and adults are also welcome.
