ASKÖ Traun: Semi-Finals Hope Lives On

TRUN. In the 7th round of the 1st Badminton Bundesliga, defending champion ASV Pressbaum beat ASKÖ Traun 6-2. The result was clearer than the course of the game suggested. The runner-up from Upper Austria presented themselves competitively despite personnel losses and demanded everything from the second-placed team.

ASKÖ Traun had to do without top player Catlyn Kruus and doubles specialist Jürgen Koch. Nevertheless, the encounter remained open for a long time: four games lasted four sets, one game was only decided in the fifth set. The Traun points were scored by Kai Niederhuber in the second men’s singles and Denise Maria Muscala in the women’s singles.

Thanks to Badminton Mödling’s simultaneous victory against WAT Simmering, ASKÖ Traun continues to maintain third place in the table and remains on course for the semi-finals. The next tasks will follow on February 14th and 15th with two home games against BSC Wolfurt and Badminton Mödling. With strong performances, Traun can secure qualification for the top four and thus the semi-finals.

Despite the defeat, it is clear that ASKÖ Traun is a serious contender for a place among the best teams in the league, even under difficult conditions.
