The young athlete from Tolentino Asia Battellini, born in 2006, won the final of the Italian Basketball Cup in recent weeks with the Matelica team, beating the team from Villa Franca (VR) in the final.
At 6 years old Asia started playing with the mixed youth teams of the Basket Tolentino association. Considering her talent and abilities, at the age of 14 she landed in Porto San Giorgio and then continued her competitive career in the women’s team of Civitanova Marche. He has played in Matelica for four years and has been in the first team in Serie A2 for three years. He attended the faculty of law at the University of Macerata. His role is point guard and guard.
She trains every day, with some sessions both in the morning and in the afternoon, apart from Mondays and weekends where she is busy with championship matches with trips throughout Italy.
Matelica is currently first in group B and hopes to access the play offs to achieve promotion to Serie A1.
Mayor Mauro Sclavi, Deputy Mayor Alessia Pupo and the entire municipal administration congratulate Asia Battellini who, although very young, has already achieved important sporting successes and is getting noticed nationally for her level of play. By combining passion, technique and commitment – they said – Asia is demonstrating all her qualities in basketball. We hope for further successes for an athlete who certainly has a brilliant career ahead of her, certain that her spirit of sacrifice and dedication will be an example for many young athletes, not just those from Tolentino.
