Daiki Kajiwara wins Asian Para Games gold to reach 200th victory

Japan’s Daiki Kajiwara captured the badminton men’s singles WH2 gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games on Feb. 23, extending his winning streak to 200 matches by defeating South Korea’s Yu Suyoung 2-1 at Ichinomiya City Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, TBS News reported.

Kajiwara Reaches 200th Win with Asian Para Games Title

Kajiwara secured his second Asian Para Games singles title following his victory at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, adding to his singles gold medals from the Tokyo and Paris Paralympics. Entering the tournament on a 195-match win streak, the Japanese player swept all five of his singles fixtures in Aichi to reach the 200-win milestone. The final against Yu proved intensely competitive as Kajiwara edged out a 21-10, 18-21, 24-22 victory.

The decisive third game saw both athletes trade points deep into deuce. Tied at 19-19, Kajiwara claimed the first match point before Yu leveled at 20-20. After Kajiwara pulled ahead 21-20, Yu fought back to 21-21 and subsequently earned a match point of his own at 22-21. However, Kajiwara rattled off three consecutive points to clinch the final game 24-22 and seal the championship.

South Korean Medal Tally in Aichi

Yu finished the tournament with two silver medals, repeating his runner-up finish to Kajiwara from the Hangzhou Asian Para Games singles final. Alongside teammate Park Haeseong, Yu also contested the men’s doubles WH1-WH2 gold medal match. The pair fell 0-2 (11-21, 10-21) to China’s Mai Jianpeng and Qu Zimo to collect the silver.

Park added two more silver medals to the South Korean delegation’s count across different events. Partnering with Jeong Gyoeul in the mixed doubles final, Park suffered a 0-2 (2-21, 7-21) defeat against China’s Qu Zimo and Liu Yutong. Park also reached the men’s singles WH1 final, where he was defeated 0-2 (9-21, 8-21) by Qu, finishing the competition with three silver medals overall.
