Argentine Tennis: Historic Palermo Event

With an unprecedented form of parallel competition, the first Challenger of the year began in the country with the exclusive coverage of AG Deportes

Buenos Aires became the epicenter of regional tennis this week. Under the heat of a scorching sun that gave no respite, the AG Deportes Argentina team settled on the courts of the emblematic Tenis Club Argentino (TCA) to bring all the alternatives of the first Challenger of the 2026 season.

This year’s edition is not just another one on the calendar. Breaking with the tradition of previous seasons, the TCA has transformed its clay courts into a stage of absolute integration: for the first time, the club hosts two professional tournaments in parallel. These are the AAT Challenger (ATP) and the W50 (ITF), allowing both the men’s and women’s teams to compete simultaneously in the same venue and category.

From early on, the impact of the balls set the pace in the woods of Palermo. The decision to unify the calendars not only optimizes logistics, but also offers fans a complete experience, being able to jump from one stand to another to follow the promises and realities of our tennis.

On the male branch:

Figures like Santiago Rodríguez Taverna and Andrea Collarini have already begun to impose their pace, seeking the valuable points that this Challenger 50 grants.

In the female branch:

The W50 team stands out for a high level of competitiveness, with local and international tennis players looking to start the year off on the right foot on Argentine soil.

Despite the high temperatures that forced the players to take extreme hydration and the spectators to seek refuge in the shadows of the surrounding trees, the level of play remained at the highest. This “double event” at the Tenis Club Argentino marks an important precedent for the development of the sport in the country, demonstrating that the national tennis structure is ready for events of great magnitude and parity.

AG Fact: Admission is free for AAT members (with prior accreditation), an unbeatable opportunity to see high-flying tennis in the heart of the City.
