CHAPTER VII – GENERAL TABLES 2026. LEAGUE CHAMPION. DESCENDATIONS AND PROMOTIONS.
Article 26. Relegations and Promotions.
26.1 The determination of relegations and promotions of the Professional Football League will be governed in accordance with the provisions of article 93 of the Statute of the Argentine Football Association.
26.2 In the case of equality in points between two or more teams in positions that define relegation (whether the same by average or by position in the General Table of Positions 2026 defined in article 24), the provisions of article 111 of the AFA General Regulations will apply, which establishes the holding of tiebreaker match(es).

Article 93 Promotions and relegations to and from the First Division
1 Descents:
a) Relegations from the First Division Championship (Professional Football League) to the First National:
a.1. The Championships will be held from January 1 to December 31 of each year.
a.2. As long as one competition is maintained by the Cup system (defined by elimination) and another by the League system (all against all), the League system must be played in the second half of each year.
a.3. The averages (points obtained divided by the number of games played) and the points obtained in the annual general table will be computed to determine the two (2) relegations from the First Division to the First National.
b) At the end of each Season:
b.1. i) one (1) team with the last average of the Season will be relegated, for which at the end of each Season the averages corresponding to the last three Seasons will have to be computed and, ii) one (1) team will be relegated that will be the one with the fewest points in the annual general table during the season.
b.2. The first team relegated will be the one that obtained the last average of the Season, for which at the end of each Season the averages corresponding to the last three Seasons will have to be computed.
b.3. The second relegated team, excluding the relegated team according to Point b.2. preceding, will be the one that obtained the fewest points in the annual general table during the Season.
Notwithstanding this: i) if the team with the fewest points in the annual general table during the season was also the team with the last average of the Season, excluding this, the next team that obtained the fewest points in the annual general table during the Season will be relegated.
2 Promotions: At the end of each season there will be two -2- teams that are promoted from the First National to the First Division (Professional Football League), the latter remaining made up of 30 teams.
