They left the field crying, arguing and fighting for half-time, with the score against them and immense pain.
In the dressing room, coach Octavio Jaramillo was clear: “we have to lift our heads, we have 30 minutes to come back, let’s remember how we got here. Come on, guys, for yourselves, for your families, for those who are supporting us from Arauca, we must show that we are brave, we have fought a lot and we have not lost.”
His words were like a push that the boys, motivated on the field by Camilo Falcao Botello, felt in their souls and came out ready, as they say in the popular sphere, “to eat up the field.”
Montería Small Area on the other end celebrated and dreamed of maintaining the 2-0 lead thanks to the double of Ronaldi Hernández, who scored at 10 and 16 minutes, to give his club the advantage.
But those from Arauca did not want to leave like this, losing, and that is why they began the comeback. And in three still ball actions they achieved what they dreamed of: turning the score around.
First with Sebastián Ochoa’s goal, 13 minutes into the second half, taking advantage of a rebound after a corner kick and scoring the ball to make it 2-1.
Then, a penalty action in favor of Arauca was taken by Falcao Botello, at 20 minutes, he equalized the score (2-2). The attacker thus reached 7 goals in Babyfútbol.
But there was more to go, because at 27 minutes and after receiving a corner kick, Falcao got up and, like his idol, the Millonarios forward, headed and sent the ball to the back of the goal for 2-3, which made the dream of the title grow, the first for Arauca in Babyfútbol Colanta.
Withstanding the onslaught of the Montería boys and leaving goalkeeper Adrieen Gerard Beltrán as a figure, he maintained the advantage and was crowned champion.
Unpublished king for Babyfútbol in its 41st edition.
Future Soccer took the honor in the ladies, from the penalty kicks
On the other hand, in the women’s duel, Formas Íntimas, the only host in the final, tied without goals against Future Soccer of Bogotá and then, in the penalty kicks, lost 5-4.
The capitals, who had already been champions in the 2022 edition under the name of New Dehli, went from hell to glory. In the first three shots they missed their charges, but then they made five shots to take the victory and thus celebrate.
“This victory was something very hard fought for, we spent a year and a half with these girls, preparing them with competitions in the League, with 260 training sessions and 70 official and friendly matches to consolidate ourselves as a team; this title is the result of all this,” commented coach Wilmer José Mourinho Gómez Arévalo.
In the end, Babyfútbol scored 372 goals in 156 games played in both branches with an average of 2.38 goals per game.
In men, Camilo Falcao Botello, from Arauca, was the top scorer with 8 scores. In women, the top scorer was Mariana Trujillo Zamora, from Talento Tolimense, with 6. Thus the curtain fell on the Festival of Festivals that brought together nearly 10,000 athletes.
