Angri Pallacanestro comes close to beating Nuovo Basket L’Aquilano at home. The Condors come back from -15 and with a heroic performance they almost take home the two points (88-86). Reduced rotations and foul problems characterize a heroic match for coach Francesco Chiavazzo’s team, which proves to be tough to die for. Missed opportunity to move ahead of Scandone Avellino in the standings, beaten by Viterbo (the Condors’ next opponent). The 43 points of a never tamed Martinez are not enough. Heroic captain Bonanni with 21. Double figures also for Triassi and Milojevic (11).
Milojevic and Martinez reply to Cecchi’s opening triple (3-4). The Argentine himself flies on the counterattack to make it 5-8. Ronca does well to win the basket and foul at 8 all. L’Aquila hurt from the arc with three shots from Nardecchia (20-14). Coach Chiavazzo is thus forced into an urgent time out. The reaction does not arrive, as the locals extend with Cecchi and Compagnoni (25-16). A torpedo from Martinez is needed in transition for the 25-19. The locals do not retreat and sign the +10 (31-21) with Nardecchia. At the end, however, I Condor got closer to Milojevic and Martinez (31-25). In the second ten laps of the clock, Nuovo Basket L’Aquilano is still hot from 6.75 with Compagnoni at 37-27. The Angrese coach has to stop the match again. Di Paolo takes the lead for 41-27. Angri is unable to return. Nardecchia scores 44-29. Martinez doesn’t give up and with a barrage of baskets he scores -8 (46-38). Triassi tries to keep his team on the waterline (53-44). Tuccella hits the target for 55-44, which leads to halftime.
When hostilities resumed, Triassi and Bonanni closed to -7 (59-52). The hosts lower the percentages a bit. Martinez steals the ball and goes for the three-point play to make it 61-57. Compagnoni unlocks his team with a triple to make it 64-57. Milojevic and Martinez accelerate and are just one possession behind (64-61). Bonanni’s free throws definitively reopen the challenge (64-63). Angri also puts his nose forward with Martinez, who scores repeatedly for 64-68. The Argentine puts the exclamation point for +7 (64-71). In the fourth period it is always Gallito who scores for 65-73. Then Bonanni takes off for the 65-75 in favor of Angri. Nuovo Basket L’quilano manages, however, to close the gap with Compagnoni and Ronca (70-75). And it is the latter who catches the Condors again (75-75). Also in this case Milojevic and Martinez give hope to the grey-reds (75-79). But L’Aquila, also taking advantage of Milojevic’s exit due to fouls, reversed the situation with Ronca and Kassar (81-79). Martinez breaks the 40 mark with 3/3 of 81-82. We reach the final in a sprint. Cecchi scores the overtaking from the line (83-82). Another steal from Bonanni leads to an unsportsmanlike offense from Ronca. The captain is frozen, with the clock stopped, for 83-84 with 1’27” on the clock. But on the other side Nardecchia punctures the net for 86-84 with 1′ to play. Stentardo misses from the corner and Cecchi from underneath makes it 88-84 with 25” remaining. Martinez does his duty from the line to make it 88-86. Cecchi suffers a foul and scores 0/2. Angri has the last chance, but Triassi’s shot goes off the rim.
