Algeria’s AFCON Triumph: ÖFB World Cup Warning

Algeria celebrated its third victory in the third game at the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Football in Morocco.

Promotion to the knockout rounds and first place in Group E were already certain for the 1990 and 2019 African champions before the clear 3-1 (3-0) against Equatorial Guinea on New Year’s Eve. Zineddine Belaid (19th), Fares Chaibi (25th) and Ibrahim Maza (32nd) scored for Austria’s World Cup opponents.

At the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada, Algeria will be the ÖFB team’s last opponent in Group J on June 28th (4:00 a.m. CET) in Kansas City. Before that, Ralf Rangnick’s selection will face Jordan on June 17th (6:00 a.m.) in San Francisco and against defending champion Argentina on June 22nd (7:00 p.m.) in Dallas.
