A short video released by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) on its official media channels is rapidly spreading and is attracting great attention from fans.
BAI Media posted a reel video on its official Instagram on the 24th (Korean time) with the phrase, “Check out Ahn Se-young’s ‘Floss Dance’ challenge, the scene where he shows off his iconic ceremony again.”
In the video, Ahn Se-young is seen standing in the center of the stage with a bright expression on the stage of the India Open awards ceremony with a medal around her neck, and dancing side by side with the Indian host Ayush Shekhawat.
In a video that appears to have taken place immediately after Ahn Se-young confirmed her victory in the competition, Shekhawat said to Ahn Se-young, “I may not be as good as you, but please teach me,” and Ahn Se-young showed off the ‘Floss Dance’ by swinging both arms back and forth as if responding to this request.
This dance was once a movement that was popular around the world through social media culture, and Ahn Se-young also performed this dance in celebration after defeating Canada’s Brittany Tam and confirming her advancement to the semifinals at the 2018 Thomas Uber Cup (World Men’s and Women’s Team Badminton Championships).
Shekhawat burst into laughter by imitating Ahn Se-young’s movements, and Ahn Se-young said “Thank you” as if embarrassed and quickly left the venue.
Although it was a short moment, the two showed natural and pleasant chemistry.
The video quickly spread immediately after being released. A day after it was posted, the cumulative number of views exceeded 160,000, and it received about 6,400 likes, proving its popularity.
Fans responded enthusiastically through comments and shares, giving various reactions such as “It’s so cute” and “I missed this dance.”
Meanwhile, Ahn Se-young is scheduled to take a break after winning the India Open and then appear as the ace of the Korean women’s team at the Asian Men’s and Women’s Team Badminton Championships to be held in Qingdao, China in February.
