[OSEN=고성환 기자] The Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour All England Open (Super 1000), which boasts the oldest history of 127 years, has already started promoting the tournament with ‘Shuttlecock Empress’ Ahn Se-young (24, Samsung Life Insurance) at the forefront.
On the 28th (Korean time), the All England Open official account posted a poster showing Ahn Se-young holding the trophy from last year’s tournament and shouted, “The Queen is back!”
He then emphasized, “Can Ahn Se-young, who won her second title at last year’s Yonex All England Open, challenge for the triple gold medal at the tournament held in Birmingham in March? Don’t miss out. Buy your tickets right now!”
The All England Open, which started in 1899, is considered the world’s oldest and most prestigious badminton competition. Ahn Se-young, ranked No. 1 in the women’s singles world rankings, has also achieved outstanding results at the All England Open, winning twice and finishing as runner-up once. The All England Open also appears to be promoting the news of ticket opening with him as the main player, boasting the best ability and popularity.

Ahn Se-young has now established herself as the best box office draw in women’s singles. He swept a whopping 11 competitions last year and is continuing his winning streak in 2026.
Ahn Se-young won the Malaysia Open (Super 1000), which was the first tournament of the new year, and then the India Open (Super 750). In particular, he defeated world number two Wang Zhiyi in two consecutive competitions, solidifying his overwhelming ‘natural enemy relationship’ with 10 consecutive wins and a total of 18 wins and 4 losses.
The next stage for Ahn Se-young, who has won six consecutive BWF World Tour tournaments including until 2025, is the All England Open. He plans to head to England in March after completing a warm-up at the Asian Men’s and Women’s Team Badminton Championships to be held in Qingdao, China in February.
If Ahn Se-young also reaches the top at the All England Open, she will be one step closer to her ultimate goal of winning the ‘Super Grand Slam’ of sweeping four Super 1000 series competitions a year. He has already taken his first step forward by winning the Malaysia Open. The Super 1000 tournament is the most prestigious and largest tournament on the BWF World Tour, with a total prize money of $1.45 million (approximately 2.087 billion won).

Meanwhile, not only Ahn Se-young, but also the world’s number one men’s doubles team of Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae, another pride of Korean badminton, also appeared as main promotional models. Both are also champions of the 2025 competition.
All England Open emphasized, “Won-ho Kim and Seung-jae Seo will participate in the Yonex All England Open! After a record-breaking year, the 2025 men’s doubles champion will return to Birmingham in March to defend his title!” and “Don’t miss it.”
Like Ahn Se-young, the team of Won-ho Kim and Seo Seung-jae had their best year in 2025, winning 11 times. This was a new record for the most wins in men’s doubles history, surpassing the record of 10 wins set by Chinese icons Li Yongbo and Tian Bingyi in 1988.
Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae also won the Malaysian Open earlier this year, defeating Erencia and Souik with their home advantage. Ahead of the India Open, Seo Seung-jae withdrew due to a shoulder injury, but he still maintains the top spot.
