Alcaraz described an unexpected encounter in the dining area with teammate Arthur Fery. “Arthur and I were eating and, suddenly, Roger appeared, grabbed a plate, and sat down to eat with us,” Alcaraz said, recounting the exchange to tennis media outlets. While keeping the specifics of the conversation private, the world number three noted that the unique structure of the Laver Cup allows for personal interactions that rarely happen during standard ATP Tour stops.
“I can see Roger from time to time at tournaments when he is around, but it is not common to be able to spend time with him during the circuit,” Alcaraz explained. “The Laver Cup is one of those special things that lets you spend more time with Roger, talk to him off the court, and ask him about many things. It is fantastic. I loved that moment.”

Following the conclusion of the Laver Cup in London, Alcaraz traveled immediately to begin his title defense at the Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo.
