Ahmed Kantari: Former Colleague Joins as Content Writer

Active in its winter recruitment, FC Nantes trusts its new coach Ahmed Kantari. Luis Castro’s successor convinced his leaders to work on the arrival of the Franco-Guinean Mohamed Kaba, his former midfielder at Valenciennes.

FC Nantes has understood the urgency of the situation. Before the break, the Canaries finished the calendar year with three consecutive defeats in the league. Worse, the current penultimate in Ligue 1 has not won any of its last seven matches in the competition. This series, as worrying as the content of the matches, prompted goalkeeper Anthony Lopes to call for reinforcements. And the new captain’s call was well heard.
Waldemar Kita’s club, which had already concluded the arrival of left back Deiver Machado as a joker, planned to pile up recruits during the winter transfer window. Attacking midfielder Rémy Cabella will not be the only newcomer. After the player on loan from Olympiakos, Bochum defensive midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko is expected to sign as part of a transfer, while Torino winger Zakaria Aboukhlal is closing in on loan. All these little people will already strengthen the squad. But FC Nantes does not intend to stop there. According to information from Ouest-France, Nantes leaders also want to obtain the loan from Mohamed Kaba.

The midfielder is having a complicated season at Lecce where he only appeared 11 times in Serie A, for only two starts. In reality, the Franco-Guinean has been in difficulty since his arrival in 2023, in particular because of his rupture of the cruciate ligament of a knee suffered in March 2024. His disappointing adventure in Italy has not, however, dampened FC Nantes. And for good reason, his new coach Ahmed Kantari had him under his command at Valenciennes, his training club. The former Valenciennes player was even voted the club’s best player during the 2022-2023 season before his departure. The Canaries coach therefore had good memories.
