2026 Winter Olympics: Germany’s Medal Predictions

The German team should be among the top three nations at the Winter Olympics. This is the goal of the Chef de Mission, Olaf Tabor, after the official nomination of the athletes for the games Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. A total of 183 athletes are expected to hunt for medals in Italy – depending on the status of the nominations, individual athletes could still move up in some sports.

The team members so far include 85 women and 98 men, 48 of whom belong to the two ice hockey teams. Only one pool has been nominated for the Alpine ski racers so far, the exact names are to follow. The reason for this is the small number of quota places. This could possibly change. This is unfortunate for the athletes affected because they have to wait, said Tabor, who is also the director of competitive sports for the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The topic will continue to cause discussions.

Sports association relies on “golden ice rink”

According to Tabor, the bobsleigh and toboggan stars have particularly high hopes for medals. Tabor says he believes that “the rink could become a golden rink for us.” The Germans would also be among the favorites in the Nordic Combined.

According to Tabor, there is great potential in the German team. He hopes for a similar yield to four years ago. At the Winter Games in Beijing in 2022, the Germans won 27 medals and took second place in the medal table behind Norway.
