2026 Spanish University Championships: Andalusia & UGR Host Bid

Granada will host 4,000 participants in the equestrian, swimming and adapted swimming competitions, badminton, karate, rugby 7, futsal, basketball, 3×3, handball, judo, wrestling, taekwondo, soccer and volleyball

The public universities of Andalusia have been chosen by the Higher Sports Council to organize the 2026 Spanish University Championships. It will be the first time that a single autonomous community hosts all the sports disciplines – 32 – of this great national event, which places Andalusia as a benchmark for university sports in Spain.

The championship will be held between the months of March and May and will feature more than 6,350 athletes from 85 universities, who will compete in 32 different modalities. The University of Granada will undoubtedly have a leading role, hosting 4,000 participants in competitions in equestrian, swimming and adapted swimming, badminton, karate, rugby 7, futsal, basketball, 3×3, handball, judo, wrestling, taekwondo, soccer and volleyball. The UGR, which coordinates the organization of the championship, will thus become one of the great epicenters of national university sports in 2026.

The calendar of these championships is a sample of the diversity, intensity and greatness of university sports, combining individual and team disciplines, tradition and high performance.
