Mexico City.- The Villas Tlalpan facilities of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE) framed the sixth and last presentation of the Annual High Performance Work Program 2026, which was headed by Luis Rivera Morales, deputy director of Quality for Sports and attended by representatives of 17 Mexican sports federations.
The work led by CONADE authorities aimed to mark the line to be followed for all Olympic and non-Olympic sports, during this year, in which, for most of the disciplines, the fundamental event will be the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
“The objective of this meeting is to make them aware of the 2026 high performance plan, which we have been working on since September with the different federations, in which they asked us what their objectives are for this year, what they need, what competitions, camps and concentrations,” explained the deputy director, who highlighted that by instruction from the general director of CONADE, Rommel Pacheco Marrufo, it is intended that all athletes and coaches are aware of which events will be supported during the year.
For her part, the director of High Performance, Carolina Acosta, announced the detailed calendars of activities for each sport and discipline, while Dr. Dulce María Pérez Flores, director of Medicine and Applied Sciences, listed the services they offer to athletes.
Likewise, the director of the National Center for the Development of Sports Talents and High Performance (CNAR), Jahir Ocampo Marroquín, explained the services and facilities available to athletes in the facilities of this sports complex and the director of Finance, Carlos Robledo, pointed out the time each administrative process takes to obtain financial resources.
The sixth meeting brought together athletes, coaches, federations and a multidisciplinary team from the disciplines of water polo, Basque pelota, water skiing, field hockey, artistic ice skating, bowling, artistic roller skating, tennis, sport climbing, golf, chess, badminton, skateboarding, speed skating, basketball, rugby 7 and breaking.
“CONADE is growing with athletes, it is aware of what is coming in each sport, each discipline, it approaches us athletes to inform us of what is coming throughout the year, they gave us information so that there were no doubts, so that we prepare both physically and mentally for each stage that comes. I really like this initiative,” said the 2026 Pan American inline hockey champion, Danna Paulina Arana Mendoza.
The Pan-American champion of Basque pelota in paired racquetball at Santiago 2023, Isaac Maximiliano Cruz Torres, highlighted: “It is very good that CONADE is interested in informing us, so that we have weapons to know what the competitive year is going to be like. The whole issue of procedures interests me, because many times our federations support us, but now we are more prepared on the subject.”
The national rugby 7 team, María Pruijn Pérez, shared: “It seems very cool to me, personally I had not had a general meeting and here they made us aware of important points, especially because very important competitions such as the Central American Games are coming and here they explained the preparation events to us.”
Finally, Arantza Fernández Gutiérrez from sport climbing concluded: “it is a very good initiative, I think it is a great support for all athletes in Mexico and will help us to continue growing and continue giving everything in the sport.”
