2025 Badminton Awards Gala Honors Top Peruvian Athletes

Excellence was awarded! The Peruvian Badminton Sports Federation (FDPB), with the support of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), held the Badminton Peru 2025 Awards Gala at Sports Center 2 in Videna. The event’s purpose was to recognize outstanding athletes and para-athletes in the national ranking and for their achievements in international competitions.

The table of honor was made up of the national director of Recreation and Sports Promotion of the IPD, Mauricio Martínez, accompanied by the president of the FDPB, Ignacio Argüelles.

During the ceremony, 160 badminton players were awarded, including the first three places in the general table according to their category, and then the “Best” modality followed with the presentation of 18 individual trophies.

In the conventional badminton category, Inés Castillo and Adriano Viale stood out, medalists in the recent Ayacucho Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games and members of the IPD’s Lima 2027 Program.

In para-badminton, eleven para-athletes who benefited from the IPD financial subsidy programs were distinguished, with the winners Pilar Jáuregui and Giuliana Poveda standing out. Both are part of the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Cycle Program.

“I am grateful for the Paralympic Cycle Program that has helped me a lot, that is why my training improved. I have the ease of having a private coach, of having five competitive events. Now I focus on training without thinking about external factors and that is what allows me to stand out,” explained Jáuregui after receiving her award.

Likewise, he referred to the Lima 2027 Program and expressed his joy for the incorporation of his duo, Jacqueline Burgos. “It is helping many athletes and para-athletes, like Jacqueline who competes with me and may well have a career thinking about a good result in the Parapan American Games next year. Then we will respect the house and ensure all the gold medals that are possible,” he said.

The IPD is committed to the maximum potential of its high-performance athletes and para-athletes through comprehensive management of its support programs with the aim of strengthening Peruvian sport.
