Kütahya Zafertepe Secondary School won the championship in the 2025-2026 Academic Year Star Men’s Basketball Inter-Secondary School Provincial Championship competitions. The team defeated Cumhuriyet Secondary School 49-30 in the final and took the cup to its museum. The match started with a balanced start and Zafertepe closed the first period ahead 6-5.
THE DIFFERENCE HAS BEEN INCREASED IN THE SECOND PERIOD
Strengthening its attack in the second quarter, Zafertepe entered the halftime with a 23-11 advantage with its effective play. Cumhuriyet Secondary School lost its rhythm due to the injuries of some of its players and the third period ended 34-22 in favor of Zafertepe. Zafertepe, which took full control in the last period, won the match 49-30 and declared the championship.
ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT FROM THE TROUBLES
Zafertepe Secondary School Principal Enver Bodur, Physical Education Teacher Oğuz Akalan and other teachers watched the match from the stands. Enthusiastic fans, consisting of approximately 100 students, gave the team great morale throughout the match. The athletes received the championship cup from Principal Enver Bodur and took a souvenir photo with the opposing team, teachers and fans at the end of the match.
A SEASON CROWNED WITH SUCCESS
The team’s coach Barış Korkmaz and his assistant coach Cevdet Melih Salman were congratulated by the athletes’ families and teachers. While this success emphasized the development of school sports in Kütahya, Zafertepe Secondary School became the champion and earned the right to represent Kütahya in interprovincial group competitions. Group matches are expected to be played in the second half of the academic year.
