To find a Victor Wembanyama game in which he didn’t record a single block we need to go back to January 10, 2024almost two years ago, when in his rookie year he closed with 0 blocked shots against the Detroit Pistons. From that day onwards the French phenomenon he always stopped at least one shot, bringing his streak of games with at least one blocked shot to 100. This night he served them due — one against Dyson Daniels in the third quarter and one against rookie Asa Newell — in his San Antonio Spurs’ easy victory against the Atlanta Hawks, eventually closing with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists in 21 minutes coming off the bench. In NBA history only two other streaks have reached triple digits: one of Dikembe Mutombo of 116 and one of Patrick Ewing of 145 — both reachable from Wembanyama before the end of this season, provided that health is on his side. It should be underlined, however, that there were blocks counted as statistics only starting from the 1973-74 seasonotherwise in all likelihood legends like Bill Russell e Wilt Chamberlain they could have made life much more difficult for Wembanyama to take this record.
