Wawrinka Retirement: 2026 to be Swiss Star’s Last Year

“It’s time to write a final chapter of my career as a professional tennis player,” Wawrinka said on social media, “2026 will be my last year on the tour.”

Wawrinka made his professional debut in 2002. The highlights of his long career were the triumphs at the Australian Open 2014, the French Open 2015 and the US Open 2016 as well as the Olympic gold in doubles in 2008 and the victory in the Davis Cup in 2014, each alongside Federer.

He won the last of his 16 titles in Geneva in 2017.
