Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe faced off against one of the greatest players in NBA history, LeBron James, for the first time on the 7th against the Los Angeles Lakers.
For Edgecombe, who joined the Sixers as the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft, his first matchup with James may have been a dream come true.
According to Edgecombe, he grew up watching James from an early age.
Edgecombe, who received the uniform from James, commented:basketnews.comis telling.
To be honest, I’m still a child.
He’s been my favorite player since I was a kid.
He’s the only reason I started playing basketball.
It means a lot to be able to get his uniform.
I just wanted to win.
I would have been happier if I had won and gotten his uniform.
Edgecomb, now 20, was born about a year and a half after James made his NBA debut.
For Edgecombe, who grew up in the Bahamas and started playing basketball because he admired James, this must have been an unforgettable day.
