Last Saturday there was a lot of consternation after the match in Kortijk. After all, Michael Vanthourenhout took a big swipe at Ryan Kamp. However, according to Dutch journalist Thijs Zonneveld, this was completely inappropriate.

No error to be seen
“Trying to hinder someone, that’s cross. But trying to deliberately run another rider off the bike is something else. I certainly have that feeling,” Vanthourenhout said to Sporza.
Zonneveld’s response is obvious. He thought it was very small to react like that, being Vanthourenhout: “What a whiner! His condition is fantastic, he showed that in Namur, but on Saturday he was one of the few top riders in Kortrijk,” Zonneveld begins.
“He came into contact several times with Ryan Kamp, an ex-teammate of his (at Pauwels Sauzen, ed.). According to him, Kamp had squeezed his brakes. “But I looked back at the images a hundred times and it didn’t look like that.”

A small response
However, Zonneveld was mainly concerned about the follow-up to Vanthourenhout’s response. “I still have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what he’s like, but we’ll see who stays active the longest,” he said angrily.
“Especially that comment,” said the Dutchman. “Kamp has to earn his contract every year. That Vanthourenhout says something like that… How sad and small. Especially when you yourself have distributed in the race. Stop it, man,” Zonneveld concludes critically.
