UD Lanzarote had to suffer to narrowly defeat CD Herbania, a team that is in the relegation zone of the category and that did not make it easy at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote. A match that was marked by the rigorous expulsion suffered by Isaac before half-time and which forced UD Lanzarote to play with one player less for the entire second half.
The first half of the match was quite even, with UD Lanzarote having slight control of the ball and being the team that approached the rival area with the most danger. The first warning came in the 14th minute, with a cross from Lisandro from the left that Nami finished off first and found a great save from Tony.
After the first half hour, UD Lanzarote’s goal arrived. Ale Fuentes was in charge of taking a corner kick in the 33rd minute, and Javi Martín headed the ball into the back of the net.
With four minutes left before the break, the referee rigorously sent off Isaac after raising his leg excessively on a split ball. At 1 to 0 the end of the first 45 minutes was reached.
With one more player, Herbania took a step forward in the second half and closed in on UD Lanzarote as the minutes passed. The rojillos were able to kill off the match in stoppage time, when Lisandro was left alone in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Tony, but he was not correct in the definition.
They had to suffer in the seven minutes of added time that the referee gave to the second half, and UD Lanzarote defended the brief advantage to add the three points that were at stake. The match ended at 1-0, returning the red team to the path of victory.
