It’s been a little over a year Rafa Nadal away from the track. Throughout his impeccable career, there are many names that would have to be mentioned to understand his success, and, without a doubt, that of Toni Nadal is one of them.
Was his uncle who put a racket in Rafa’s hand since his childhood. He accompanied him during his development as a player and continued by his side as coach throughout his career except for the last few years. Until 2016, when Carlos Moya replaced him in the position and Toni then became director of the Rafa Nadal Academy.
In his latest statements reported by ‘Punto de Break’, the former coach commented on how his relationship with his nephew is today. “Personally, I can assure you that nothing has changed after his withdrawal. My relationship with him is more of a friendship. than that of an uncle-nephew relationship,” Toni said after almost a decade since he stopped being his coach.
“We are a united family,we do many things togetherlike playing golf or having dinner together, I also often visit their children. We have a normal family relationship,” he added in closing, thus confirming that the closeness between him and Rafa has remained intact throughout this time.
