The 1st stage of the 40th Tennis Japan League, a corporate tournament, was held at the Yokohama International Pool and Bourbon Beans Dome. 18 men’s teams competed over four days from December 4th to 7th, and 12 women’s teams competed over three days from December 5th to 7th.
In the men’s red block, Ikai, who placed 5th last time, improved to 4 wins and 0 losses. In doubles, Japan representative Takeshi Yuzuki teamed up with Yasuki Matsuda and won all the matches. Last year’s runner-up Noah Indoor Stage, who lost to Ikai, started with 3 wins and 1 loss, while last year’s 3rd place Iyo Bank started with 2 wins and 2 losses.
In the Blue Block, Jason Kubler, who ranked 63rd in his career (as of April 24, 2023), participated in Yamaki Singles 1 and led the team. They also defeated Hashimoto Sogyo Holdings, which ranked 4th last time, making it 3 wins and 1 loss. Expert Power Shizuoka won all the games. Mitsubishi Electric had a difficult start with two wins and two losses.
