CULIACAN._ Culiacán tomato trees passed the broom again at home, now in front of Tucson Baseball Teamto complete a perfect week within the second round of the 2025-2026 Season of the Mexican Pacific League.
In the third of the series, Tomateros de Culiacán won 4-1 against Tucson Baseball Team, in a duel where the cherry offense responded with home runs.
The ninth culichi took the lead from the first inning when JP Martínez hit a solo home run off Raúl Carrillo to open the scoreboard. The hit represented the Cuban’s ninth home run of the campaign.
The lead was expanded in the third inning thanks to a hit to center field by Luis Verdugo, with which Jon Singleton scored the second run of the game.
In the fifth inning, Orlando Martínez joined the power party by hitting a solo home run through center field, making the score 3-0 in favor of Tomateros de Culiacán.
Tucson Baseball Team avoided a shutout in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly by Jesús Fabela, which allowed River Town to score. However, the icing on the cake response was immediate, since at the bottom of that same inning JP Martínez hit his second home run of the night to seal the final score of 4-1.
The victory went to Fineas Del Bonta-Smith, who worked five scoreless innings, in which he allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out one. Anthony Gose recorded his 12th save of the season.
The defeat fell to Raúl Carrillo, after pitching six and a third innings, in which he allowed four runs, received seven hits, walked four and struck out two.
With this result, Tomateros de Culiacán closed the week with a 14-4 record, while the Tucson Baseball Team finished with a 4-14 record.
Now, Tomateros de Culiacán will travel to Jalisco to start the series at the home of the champion Charros, while the Tucson Baseball Team will face Venados de Mazatlán in the port.
