BCL WEEK 5: BNEİ HERZLIYA 82_81 TOFAŞ BURSA

Even though our TOFAŞ Basketball Team lost 82-81 away to the Israeli representative Bnei Penlink Herzliya in the 5th week match of the Basketball Champions League Group D, they guaranteed the play-inn place with the advantage of double goal difference.

In the 5th week of Basketball Champions League Group D, TOFAŞ faced away against Israeli representative Bnei Penlink Herzliya. The Blue Greens started the match played at the Víceúčelová Hala Opava hall in Opava, Czech Republic, with Alex Perez, Hugo Besson, Furkan Korkmaz, Yiğitcan Saybir and Lynn Kidd, and scored their first basket with Yiğitcan Saybir. Hugo Besson, Yiğitcan Saybir and Isaiah Whaley’s points increased the difference to 14 (51-65) in the 28th minute, and although Herzliya had a 9-0 streak at the end of the quarter, TOFAŞ entered the last quarter with a 60-65 advantage.

Starting the fourth period with Tolga Geçim’s three-pointer, TOFAŞ Baskeball Team could not prevent the opponent’s points and the score was equalized in the 34th minute: 68-68. Yiğitcan Saybir’s free throws put an end to the opponent’s 8-0 streak. The Bursa team, which continued to respond to the opponent’s points with Yiğitcan Saybir, was ahead 80-81 with 8 seconds left with the points of Lynn Kidd, Yiğitcan Saybir and Furkan Korkmaz, and although they lost 82-81 with a last-second basket from the court, they secured the play-inn by taking the double goal difference advantage.

Yiğitcan Saybir was the team’s top scorer with 28 points for TOFAŞ against Herzliya; Furkan Korkmaz 14 points; Hugo Besson scored 11 points. Joe Thomasson and Marek Blazevic were not in the squad because they were injured.

TOFAŞ Basketball Team, which is guaranteed to play in the play-in qualifying round with this result, will play its last match in the Basketball Champions League Group D against the Italian representative Trapani Shark on Tuesday, December 16, at 20.30.
