Los Tigers are already in Toluca to play the Second Leg of the Grand Final of the Opening 2025the felines traveled with all their arsenal except Sebastian Cordovaa player who has not been considered for much of the tournament and who will not be renewed either.
Those led by Guido Pizarro are seeking their ninth title with the absence of the Mexican midfielder who was deleted. It is worth mentioning that Córdova ends his contract before the end of the year and the board does not plan to renew it, so his future would be far from the northern team.

The former Águilas del América player has been free to negotiate with any team since last June, something that has not happened, although he will surely find a new destination heading to Clausura 2026, a player who at the time was one of the most desired.
Despite everything, the fans recognized the figure he represented for the institution and during the last practice of the university students they chanted his name “Oh, come on Córdova” where the player was present prior to the team’s flight.

What were your numbers?
The midfielder only played six games in the Apertura 2025, of which only one was as a starter. His contribution on the field has been very limited, as in total he has only accumulated 147 minutes so far in the tournament, without being able to reflect his quality or make a difference as in previous seasons.
One of the most disturbing points is that Córdova does not register goals in the current campaign. His last goal was in the last Clausura 2025, no less than in the Clásico Regio against Rayados, where he knew how to respond in one of the most demanding and pressured matches. Since then, his offensive productivity has faded.

Córdova’s performance has been decreasing little by little, moving away from that level that he showed in key moments with Tigres, such as in past leagues where he was decisive with goals and assists. Today, his role within the squad has been considerably reduced.
Guido Pizarro’s decision not to call him up in the last few matches has opened the debate on whether it is a purely footballing issue or whether contractual and future sports planning factors also play a role.
