SCARLINO. A meeting full of sporting and human significance took place in recent days in the board room of Municipality of Scarlinodedicated to Stefano Brocchettaarcher and sergeant major of the Italian Army, protagonist of a path of rebirth that looks ambitiously to 2028 Olympics.
The mayor was present at the meeting Francesca Travisonthe municipal councilor with responsibility for sport Diego Radi and the archery company Gherardo Leonardo D’Appiano of Scarlino, affiliated to Italian Archery Federation et al Coni.
Stefano Brocchetta, 37 years old, resident in Rosignano and father of two children, has seen his life change radically after a serious accident at workwhich occurred during a parachute exercise, which no longer allows him to walk. Faced with such a tough test, the athlete chose to get back into the game through sportfinding in archery a new path of personal and competitive growth.
With determination and mental strength, Brocchetta today practices the compound archery at high levels, competing in both indoor 18 meter and outdoor 50 meter competitions, along with all the other archerswithout distinctions or preclusions. A path made possible by inclusive model promoted by the national federation.
The technical project and federal support
Entrusted by the federation to the technical care of Fabio Ticcicoach and president of the Gherardo Leonardo D’Appiano company, Brocchetta is also followed with great attention at a national level. Expectations on his path are high and look towards a path of international growthwith the declared aim of reaching the 2028 Olympic events.
To confirm the importance of the sports project, the federal president also participated in the meeting via video link Vittorio Polidoriunderlining the technical and symbolic value of Brocchetta’s experience.
The support of the Municipality of Scarlino
The Mayor Francesca Travison wanted to meet the athlete personally to learn about his history and needs related to sporting activity. «Stefano represents an extraordinary example of determination and ability to transform an enormous difficulty into a new opportunity in life and sport – he declared – As the municipal administration we want to be at his side and support, together with the archery company, every possible path that allows him to train in the best conditions».
Along the same lines, city councilor Diego Radi highlighted the social and sporting value of the path undertaken. «Stefano Brocchetta’s story talks about inclusion, sacrifice and passion. It is a pride for our territory to accompany an athlete who, with his daily commitment, transmits a positive message to the entire community, especially the younger ones.”
A shared path towards 2028
The meeting in the council chamber laid the foundations for a shared work which will continue in the coming months, with the aim of identifying useful solutions for adapt training facilities and concretely support the athlete’s sporting career. Stefano Brocchetta’s journey towards 2028 Olympics it thus becomes the symbol of one sport without barrierscapable of combining inclusion, resilience and ambition.
