Spanish Athletes: 2026 Goals & Dreams

The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) has awarded this week the best Spanish athletes of 2025, highlighting María Pérez and Andrés Temiño as the best athletes of the year.

Specifically, María Pérez has stopped by Radioestadio Noche to take stock of a fantastic year in which she has been recognized as the best in the world in her sport. “It is a reward for the work of the entire team behind me (…) I have had three or four unbeatable years, every day we are getting a little better,” explained the athlete who has set the European Championship in Birmingham as her goal for 2026.

Another of the winners has been Carolina Marín, to whom the COE has given a special award for her career in badminton. Still in full recovery from the knee injury that deprived him of the medals in Paris 2024, Marín has set the European Championship next April, to be held in Huelva, as his goal. “It’s a very big dream, until the last I will be trying,” he admits.

“The knee, at the moment, is holding up, which is no small thing. It is a very delicate knee, I am very aware of what I have and I do not force anything at all,” he explains about his recovery.

Denis González has been awarded as a revelation athlete for his outstanding emergence this year, although he assures that “there is a lot of room for improvement.”

Saúl Craviotto has also visited Radioestadio Noche, who has not yet confirmed his presence in the next Olympic Games. “Even if I feel like it, there are kids who are already tightening my grip (…) I wouldn’t stop for myself, but the reality is a shock that will come one day,” he acknowledges.
