Condom: Flying Madmen & Net Play Analysis

the essential
After those of Gondrin, the local badists went to face their Vicois friends during an evening that was as sporty as it was friendly.

The Vic and Condom clubs know each other well. It is common for players to share their training sessions with each other, thus cultivating a strong sporting friendship.

From time to time, with all courtesy and esteem, they become opponents like this Tuesday in Vic, as part of the first leg of the Interclub-Leisure tournaments which they are inaugurating this year with the Gondrin club as an accomplice.

As soon as they arrive, the day’s competitors gather for a traditional family photo. The session is quick because everyone is eager to compete on the courts, either in singles (women and men) or doubles (women, men and mixed).

From the outset, Volant Vicois asserted his superiority in singles and took the lead. The doubles followed where the Fous du Volant de Condom recovered and caught up. At the end of the eighth match, the two clubs are tied. The suspense is then at its height. The tension rises after a ninth match which the Condomois win. The last match is very competitive and ends with a score favorable to the guests, who win the tournament.

Good players, the Vicois promise that in the return phase, they will take their revenge before inviting them to continue the evening with a friendly drink where the adversaries of one evening return to the delights of friendship.

At the end of the first meetings already held, another conclusion is necessary which gives pleasure, satisfaction and… relief to the three clubs already involved in the tournament. Because from the start of the 2025-1926 season, as in most clubs in France and in order not to suffer a growth crisis, it was necessary to manage the great success and the incredible growth that badminton is now experiencing.

Thus, in the Gers, new balances must be found to maintain the desires and aspirations of all bad players, from the most ardent competitors who progress at a high level because they are supported by the French Badminton Federation to those who only seek relaxation by practicing a sport that is easy to access, including from a financial point of view. Can we claim immediate success? It would be presumptuous to say so, but numerous initiatives demonstrate encouraging developments.

Badminton therefore has bright days ahead of it in 2026, including locally a final phase, as a badminton festival which will take place for the first time in Condom on June 14. The Fous du Volant en Armagnac de Condom, the Badishatz de Gondrin and the Volant Vicois are all the more motivated!
