SOA & Swedish Armed Forces: Partnership Overview

At the Dal Regiment, an exciting project will be implemented from spring 2025, which is based on the Armed Forces’ increased demands for both growth and combat capability. In the pilot initiative, an assigned project group works with the officers employed at the Dal Regiment, in order to identify structural collaborations in the longer term that can benefit both the Armed Forces and Swedish sports. The Swedish Olympic Academy (SOA) includes the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC), the Karolinska Institutet (KI), the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the School of Economics.

– We look positively on the fact that the collaboration between SOA and the Armed Forces can create opportunities for Swedish Olympians and top coaches to contribute within the Armed Forces in the future. We already see and feel that our organizations complement each other well and that the collaboration can provide mutual benefits, says SOK’s sports director Fredrik Joulamo.

During the project period, various collaboration initiatives within SOA have already been tested. During the past week, Eric Emanuelsson from KI has lectured on exercise theory and SOK’s physical advisor Rickard Nilsson has carried out two successful sessions with barbell training for the staff at the Dal regiment. Behind the scenes, KTH also supports with data management and digital training reporting.

More about the collaboration can be found on an ongoing basis, and the project stretches towards the summer when analysis and evaluation begin.
