Slovak hockey players became the winners of the Kaufland Cup domestic Christmas tournament. After Wednesday’s triumph over Norway 7:4, they defeated Latvia 3:2 after extra time on Friday in Banská Bystrica and defended the trophy from last year.
Vladimír Országh, SR coach: “First of all, we are happy for the victory. We had a slow start, then the game settled down and we had chances. But so did the opponent. We regret the goal 4 seconds before the end. Eugen Rabčan supported us and we are happy for the victory. We gained a lot of information for the future.”
Craig Ramsay, the former head coach of Slovakia, who said goodbye to Slovak viewers: “It was a very special night. I came here to do my job and I tried my best. We all tried, my assistants, all my colleagues, they really helped me a lot. And of course my wife too, she’s always the one who supports me and does everything to make things right. I’m glad we won this game, it was a really special night for me and something I’ll never forget.”

Mislav Rosandič, SR player: “I was stressed from the morning when I learned that I would be playing in the attack. Someone had to take it upon themselves. I tried to play simply and save minutes for the players to rest.”
Patrik Hrehorčák, striker of SR and scorer of two goals in the match: “I’m glad we did it, but we’re upset about the goal at 2-2. We also played for Craig and I’m glad we made him happy, albeit with drama.”
Matúš Sukeľ, author of one goal and captain of SR: “I’m glad we won, even though we didn’t keep it in regular time. But overall the tournament went well for us, we scored a lot of goals in the first game, it was difficult in both games.”
Eugen Rabčan, goalkeeper of SR: “Great crowd, I always enjoy it. I’m glad we managed to find a way to win. It was a great point and I’m glad I can go home with a good feeling.”
