Former Argentina international Hernan Crespo noted in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport that the disconnect between the transfer fee and the player’s historical output is clear. Crespo pointed out that Ramos recorded 53 goals in 131 appearances during his three seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, a scoring rate that falls short of one goal every two matches. While acknowledging the forward’s industrious work rate, Crespo observed that supporters naturally expected an elite finisher given the financial outlay.

During his tenure in France, Ramos operated largely outside the core of undisputed starters under manager Luis Enrique.
