The separation of Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero continues to generate reactions in the world of tennis about what the 2026 season will be like for both. A 2026 in which Alcaraz will be under the orders of Samu López, who has already accompanied him this season, while Ferrero has not yet revealed what his next adventure will be after confessing that he would have liked to continue training Alcaraz.
In the future there could be the possibility that Ferrero would end up training Sinner. An idea with which Álex Corretja could not show his astonishment on Cadena SER’s El Larguero. “Ferrero training Sinner? I really don’t see that one,” The Spanish tennis player said in surprise.
However, Corretja believes that, if this union occurs, it could have very good results since Sinner and Ferrero have many things in common. “A few months ago Moyá’s name came up because he hadn’t trained Nadal for a few months. Sinner’s philosophy and Ferrero’s philosophy fit together more. They are not two robots, they are two boys who are very interested in tennisfocus on that and maybe they are not so much for other types of situations.”
Corretja also believes that right now both Alcaraz and Ferrero should take some time to think about how they are going to face their paths after this separation. “Right now I think Juanki needs some time to reflect, to relax, to stay at home and to appreciate what he has done, which I think has been exceptional on his part. And I think Alcaraz also needs to take his time. I think he needs a month or two to reflect and when the Australian Open is over I think it will be a good time for him to say ‘okay, this is my team. What do I want? What am I missing? What can I contribute or if what I have is enough to continue succeeding.”
