From January 14 to 24, a men’s stage of the Haut-Garonnais circuit, reserved for 2nd series players, is offered by the three clubs. The tournament will be played in the three municipalities, with an indoor hard court for each.
“The main objective is to be able to offer high-level tennis to our licensees free of charge. » Respectively president of the Montberon, Lapeyrouse-Fossat and Saint-Loup-Cammas clubs, Alexandre Bellon, Jean-Michel Crenais and Stéphane Perruchot will be served, next month, for a men’s stage of the 31 Tennis Tour, a circuit of tournaments open to 2nd series players.
“In 2023 and 2024, we organized the event with the Pechbonnieu and Labastide-Saint-Sernin clubs. Last year, the event could not take place. There, we are happy to be able to relaunch it under the name Tournoi Nord Toulousain,” explains Alexandre Bellon, whose club has 175 members.
The tournament is therefore 100% male, with rankings from 15 to – 4/6. “Given the duration of the competition and the number of indoor courts available, we have limited the number of players. As a result, there can be 60 at most. We hope that each of the three clubs will be able to count on the help of volunteers because conviviality is part of our DNA,” continues the president of the Montberon club.
“A good thing for everyone”
For his part, Jean-Michel Crenais did not hesitate to embark on this project. “We already knew each other a little bit between presidents. This jointly organized tournament is obviously a good thing for everyone,” assures the manager of the Lapeyrouse-Fossat club, which has 190 members.
Finally, in Saint-Loup-Cammas, Stéphane Perruchot lists around 110 licensees. “For two years, our club had fallen asleep a little. We had a shortage of teachers. By finding two teachers, a dynamic could be restarted. Being part of the organization of this January tournament is a logical continuation to continue our development,” concludes the general treasurer of the Haute-Garonne committee.
