Donetsk football club Shakhtar has officially changed its location and is now registered in Kyiv. This is reported in Telegram– Sport Baza channel.

The team indicated the Opera Hotel on Bohdan Khmelnitsky Street as its legal address, where the Spanish national team and Real Madrid stayed at different times. According to the source, changes have been made to the International Football Federation (FIFA) system: the city that the club represents is now Kyiv. However, the international name of the team still retains “Shakhtar Donetsk”.

Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that the club was considering the possibility of building a new stadium in Kyiv. In addition, the Pitmen’s management intends to conduct sociological surveys to assess the level of interest in the club among residents of the Ukrainian capital.

This season, Shakhtar did not play in the Champions League for the first time in the 21st century. The club missed the tournament for the first time since the 1999/2000 season.
