Sexual Violence in Sport: Val-d’Oise Leads Response

It is a department marked by legal affairs. In football, artistic roller skating or more recently in the world of tennis, with the conviction at the end of October of an educator from Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt, five years in prison. It caused 260 victims. Val-d’Oise has decided to take matters into its own hands to try to stem the scourge of sexual violence in sport which, according to the Ministry of Sports, affects one in seven children in France. The departmental council has just adopted a charter to strengthen prevention.

Mandatory for all clubs benefiting from subsidies from January 1, 2026, this provides in particular for the designation of referents within the board of directors, and commits structures to report situations of violence, to inform and raise awareness of all people participating in the life of the club, as well as to cooperate with the administrative and judicial authorities. A first in Île-de-France.
