JAKARTA – The SenengMinton 2025 festival series has officially ended. The final series of the festival in this year’s calendar was held in the town of Magelang, Central Java.
The summit setting up the last round of the event, initiated by the provincial leaders (Pengprov) of PBSI Central Java and the Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation, took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at GOR Djarum Magelang.
This festival is an opportunity to introduce badminton to students in grades 1 to 3 of primary school (primary school) through an educational and enjoyable approach. The closing session in Magelang was attended by 480 students from 16 schools, making for a total of 2,266 participants from five cities throughout 2025.
Yoppy Rosimin, program director of the Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation, said that this festival was an important part of early summer training because the regeneration and training of athletes were long-term processes that could not be achieved instantly.
“The process must start consistently from childhood. This festival is a way to introduce badminton that is educational and easy to understand for students so that passion for the sport can grow before entering the more serious warm-up phase,” said Yoppy.
PBSI Central Java Provincial President Basri Yusuf said the enthusiasm of students, teachers and parents showed the effectiveness of the training approach at the primary school level.
“The enthusiasm of the participants to learn about badminton is incredible. This is our dream because until now the training has been carried out by clubs, but now we can reach many schools,” said Basri.
As usual, participants completed five game-based obstacles, such as the shuttle run, shuttlecock pyramid, shuttlecock throw and zig zag run, which are designed to train motor skills and introduce the fundamentals of badminton technique.
Each school sends six first graders, including four boys and two girls, while for grade two there are 10 participants per school with a composition of six boys and four girls.
Additionally, in the class three category, each school sends 14 students, including eight senior students and six senior students.
During the setup, the fighting spirit was shown by SDN Kemirirejo 1 who brought 30 students to participate in the 2025 SenengMinton Festival.
Zenuwardiyanto, a sports teacher at SDN Kemirirejo 1, said the process of introducing badminton at the school was successful in gaining a positive reception from students.
Although he does not yet have a badminton extra-curricular, Zenu hopes that his students will be more motivated to take up the sport of feather ball and join a club.
“Alhamdulilah, students can do their best. We hope that many students will be more and more attracted to badminton. Thanks to the Djarum Foundation, this is a valuable opportunity for our school to be able to participate in the SenengMinton Festival,” said Zenu.
