Sebastian Härtner Death: Footballer Dies in Ski Lift Accident

German football player Sebastian Hertner died tragically during a ski holiday in Montenegro, falling from a height of 70 meters from a chairlift.

Former defender “Schalke-04”, “Darmstadt” And “Erzgebirge” I was riding a ski lift at the Savin Kuk resort in northern Montenegro when the chair suddenly came loose.

Hertner died on the spot, and his wife, who was nearby, received severe injuries and a broken leg and was taken to the hospital. According to media reports, other tourists remained in suspended chairs for several hours until rescuers evacuated them.

The Erzgebirge expressed condolences over the death of the athlete.

“It is with deep sadness that Erzgebirge Football Club announced the death of its former player Sebastian Härtner and expressed its most sincere condolences to his family and friends. The tragedy occurred on December 20, 2025 during the winter holidays.”says the club’s press service.

Hertner is a product of Stuttgart. He played five matches as part of the German youth national team (under 19 years old). Hertner was 34 years old.
