Mohamed Salah, 33, was benched again.
After the match against Leeds, he went out and swung at Liverpool.
– I feel that the club is throwing me under the bus, says Salah to Viaplay.
Mohamed Salah was benched for the third game in a row when Liverpool faced Leeds.
The Egyptian didn’t even get a start on Saturday night – and afterwards he went out and criticized the club harshly.
– I am very disappointed. I have done so much for this club, everyone can see that over the years, especially last season. Sitting on the bench … I don’t know why. I feel that the club is throwing me under the bus, says Salah to Viaplay.
“Suddenly we have no relationship”
Salah continues:
– It is very clear that someone wants to put all the blame on me. The club promised me a lot of things this summer, so far I’ve sat on the bench for three games … You can’t say they’ve kept their promises, says Salah in Viaplay and continues:
– I have said many times before that I have a good relationship with the coach (Arne Slot). Suddenly we have no relationship, I don’t know why.
The answer about the future
Liverpool’s next Premier League match is at home to Brighton next weekend. It is also Salah’s last game before he goes to the African Championship (Afcon) to represent Egypt.
The star says he will “enjoy” the match against Brighton – but is uncertain about his future.
– The match will be played at Anfield, so it will be my farewell before I go to Afcon. I don’t know what will happen when I’m there (at Afcon), says Salah in Viaplay.
“Will not fight for my place”
Salah ends the interview with the following words:
– The situation is not acceptable to me. I’ve done so much for this club, I’m not going to fight for my place every day – because I’ve earned it. I am not bigger than anyone, but I have earned my place, says Salah.
Mohamed Salah has played 420 games for Liverpool and scored 250 goals and 116 assists. He has also won two Premier League titles and a Champions League title during his time at the club.
