Mohamed Salah has apologized to his Liverpool teammates for leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations. According to Curtis Jones, the entire team would be behind the Egyptian again.
Salah was left out of Liverpool’s squad for the Champions League match against Internazionale last week. This happened after he indicated that he no longer had a good relationship with trainer Arne Slot. The attacker was then left on the bench for the third consecutive game and left the school. However, he returned to the selection last weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion and was important with an assist on Hugo Ekitike.
Jones explains how the incident was handled behind closed doors at Liverpool. “Mo is his own person and can say what he wants,” the midfielder begins Sky Sports. “He said something like: If I have hurt anyone or made you feel bad, I apologize. That’s the man he is.”
“I can only speak about my own experiences with Mo and how he interacts with us,” Jones continues. “He was positive and exactly as we know him: with a big smile and everyone was exactly the same towards him. I think it is part of his winning mentality and Mo will not be the last.”
Ones knows that there are different ways to deal with something. “It’s only when a boy is completely okay with sitting on the bench and doesn’t want to play that you should start to worry. If there is any anger within the team, including myself, it comes from something good. It may come out unfortunate at times, but it is never intended to harm the team or the manager.”
